WALT write about our plans.
We have used our thinking maps about the storm to create these pieces of writing.
On Sunday 15 March Cyclone Pam hit New Zealand's north island. It came from Vanuatu. There was a storm and rain came down and there were very strong winds.
The trees can fall over in a storm and there can be power cuts. There can also be slippery roads and storms can damage buildings. In a storm like Cyclone Pam it can be scary. You should stay inside and draw the curtains to stop breaking glass from hurting you.

WALT write explanations
The class created this brainstorm together and then used the words to record facts that explained why we need rain.
Topic - Why do we need rain?

Rain comes from the sky. It is in the black clouds. It drops from the sky and it makes the ground wet. The drops splatters and makes puddles. When it rains for a long time it can flow. Rain fills our tanks. It hydrates people so they can stay healthy. Plant grow when they get enough rain.
We thought that the plan helped us to write the explanation easily.
"You just look at the words and it tells you what to write."
" Start on the left and write about each question until you get to the last one."
"It was easy because I could copy the words from my plan."
