My Marvellous Holiday by Alex

My Marvellous Holiday

On the first day of the holiday I had an omelette for breakfast then I had a bounce on the tramp well my dad was watching racing. The week after that me my dad Sam and my mum moved the trampoline to the new garage.

The day after that we went to our dads work with our mum and dropped her off at the airport because she is going to go to America. Then we went back to dad's work so we saw James and Vivian.

when we got home me and Sam went to Kate, Isla and Olivia's house. The day after that I had a sleepover with Lise and Bente. On the last day of the holiday, I went to Alisa, Jorja and Sarie's house and I went rock climbing. The fake rocks were made of plastic.

On the holiday I felt sad, happy, exhausted and worried about mums plane and if it was going to crash.

My fantastic 5 days at my beach house

My fantastic 5 days at my beach house

In the 2 week holidays in the 2nd week on Monday me and my family packed to go to our beach house. It took 2 hours to get there. When we got there we had dinner because we got there late. I was very tired. The next day we went on the ferry to a big beach.

When we got to the beach we ran to the swings (because there were swings) and we ate some chips. My dad swung me very high he also spun me. Then the next day we went to three Op Shops. I got some clothes and books. My brother got toys and a few books.

On the last day, it was very fun! We got … BACON AND SCRAMBLED EGGS for breakfast!!!!! Mmm Mmm!! Afterwards, we packed up to go home. We got in the car and went home. Me and my brother saw a playground. Our mum said we can go on it by ourselves because I would look after Finlay. Finally, we went home. I felt fantastic!

Today we were learning to write Haiku poems about ourselves. The first and third line had to include 5 syllables each and the second line had to have 7 syllables.

Here is an example of the first poem that was published.

More Creative Creature Writing

Some more stories about our creatures

Creativity - Our Leaf creature stories

First we created our imaginary creatures by using a leaf rubbing as part of the animal's body. We could not use the colour of the leaf in our pictures. This made it stand out.  Writing about the creatures made us focus on these goals:

  • Learning new vocabulary like habitat and characteristics
  • organising our writing into paragraphs
  • using creativity while we write
  • writing difficult words by sounding out the sounds as we hear them

Read about our creature and feel free to leave an appreciative or encouraging comment.

ANZAC day Acrostic Poems

Here are some examples of our ANZAC acrostic poems. We wrote them after reading 'Dawn Parade' and other stories about ANZAC day. We were working collaboratively on our poems even though we ended up with our individual poems.

Have you filled a bucket today?

After reading the story "Have you filled a bucket today", we made our own buckets. We wrote down all the things that will fill our bucket. Here are a few examples.

PRIDE Values

We have been learning about the PRIDE values during week two. We had to think about how and when we show Passion, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Empathy. Look at some of the posters that we made. Come and look at more of these in our class.

Linking Learning and Nature

We had a walk through our school grounds looking for items that remind us about ourselves as learners. There were some amazing connections made. Come and have look in class to see more examples.
