Questioning

We are learning to write questions. Some questions can be thin...

Some questions can be thick...

Here are some of our questions about our investigation into technology.

Sometimes we have other questions too...

Come and have a look at our wonder wall to see more of our questions.

Factual Reports - Brooke

Factual report - Toucans

Factual Report writing and Slide shows

We were  learning about how animals are impacted on through weather changes and the choices we make.  We investigated some animals, their habitats and discovered what impacted on these animals.
Read more about our inquiries by watching these slideshows. They are our first attempts and we are very proud of them.

Giving feedback to my buddy.

Today we were learning to give feedback to a buddy. We first read through the recounts, making sure we understood everything. Then we checked the stories again and we looked for something that was done well and something that could be improved on. We shared it with our buddies and they wrote it down in their books. This will be the next step for our writing.

How am I doing

We are learning to check our writing.
After writing our stories, we spend time on rereading, improving and editing our spelling. We also check how we are going with our use of ideas, capital letters, etc. Here is an example of how we use colour coding to do this.

Things to celebrate:
a good start to using a thinking map
capital letters at the beginning of each sentence
accurate sounding out

Self-Assessment

We have been learning to assess our writing. We used colours to identify the different aspects that we had to include in our writing. Some of these were capital letters and full stops.

Look at how Shannyn has used her detailed plan to write the recount. She missed two lines when she started a new paragraph.

Writing Paragraphs

Shannyn created this thinking map using who, what when, where and how questions to help her add detail to the thinking map. Next she will use the colour coding to help her write simple paragraphs.
