Firewise posters

We were learning about how to be safe around fires and so we used our new knowledge to help us create posters that can help us teach others what to do in the event of a fire. Have a look at some of what we have created.

Spring is in the air!

WALT write factual reports.

Spring

Buzz, buzz, buzz! It is nearly spring. There is going to be green grass and green trees. There is going to be daffodils all around us. Plants grow best in spring. It is the best time for flowers. Blossoms on the trees will bloom. Baby animals are born in spring too. Chicks hatch in spring. We feed lambs and calves with milk bottles. Insects, butterflies and bees come out more. It is warmer. It is sunny and you get to go outside more. Spring is in September and summer is coming soon.

We are learning about natural events.

We have been learning about earthquakes and volcanoes. This learning led us to do some writing about them.

Campbell is giving you some safety tips to use during an earthquake.

Read more about volcanoes

We had the chicks visiting our classroom.

We are learning to write factual reports so when we had the chickens visiting our classroom, we also wrote about them.

WALT write a description
SC
  • I can plan by brainstorming adjectives
  • I can write a sentence to explain what I am writing about
  • I can describe the object
  • I can add a comment as an ending.

Goldfish

I am going to describe the weirdest looking goldfish in the world to you. This goldfish has a yellow and orange body and a see through and white tail. It's also wavy.

The cheeks are round like bubbles, balls or balloons. It has a little fat body. Inside the cheeks are little veins that look like wrinkles. It has a triangular shape tail. I think it has the smallest eyes of all the fish.

I hope when you see one you will be able to recognise it.

Miller wrote this recount at home after going to the boat show. Here he is holding a a signed photo of Matt Watson.

On Friday I went home early from school because I would have missed the boat show. I went with my family. We looked at white pointer boats. We found a white pointer team. They were really nice. They gave me a poster of a boat. We met three famous fishing stars. One was called Mick and one was called Scott. We also met Matt Watson. My brother Harrison asked a question. The question was: "Have you caught an oil fish?" He said: "Yes!"

There were prizes. We didn't win any. We got to drive a remote control boat. We met up with some friends. We went out for dinner at Wendy's. I got a burger. Then we went home.

Writing about Math Patterns

We use our writing skills in maths too. We were learning about patterns and had to describe out patterns. We first wrote about what we have used to make our pattern, what the pattern was (colour, shape, number, etc) and last we had to say what came next. Here are a few examples.
